The Paris Region Support Fund opens up to international co-productions
Friday 6 March 2020
Valérie Pécresse, President of the Region, announced at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival that a dialogue would be set up between the Region and professionals in order to strengthen the international competitiveness of the Paris region.
Among the changes voted on 5 March was the creation of an international section of the Cinema Support Fund.
Minority international co-productions are now eligible with no minimum shooting time in the region. They must spend €100,000 in the Paris region and are eligible for funding of up to a maximum of 50% of the amount spent in the Ile-de-France region, up to a maximum of €250,000.
Majority co-productions see the required expenditure threshold in Ile-de-France lowered to 30% of the total budget and the shooting time in Ile-de-France lowered to 20%.
To support these new financial measures, the Region Fund is being strengthened for the year 2020, rising from €15.5m in 2019 to €17m in 2020.
