Netflix chooses Paris Region
Tuesday 11 February 2020
According to its CEO, Reed Hasting, Netflix intends to become a "major French producer and no longer just a machine for exporting Hollywood content".
Therefore, the American platform has announced a significant increase in its investments in France, which should exceed 100M Euros in 2020.
Netflix wants to rely on the many talents available in France, particularly authors and producers. It also aims at contributing to the emergence of French new talents. To this end, the company has signed a strong partnership with two film schools and an association of the Paris region, namely:
The Fémis: : a partnership on their "Series" program and on training for young self-taught directors from modest backgrounds.
The GOBELINS: the financing of 5 student scholarships within the framework of the Master of Arts in Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking.
1000 visages: Partnership on their program dedicated to the writing of series.
