Regional Support Fund

The Ile de France Region’s Support Fund for Film and Audiovisual Technical Industry

Set up in 2001, the Ile de France Region’s Support Fund for Film and Audiovisual Technical Industries is intended to provide financial help to French and foreign productions subject to sufficient use of Ile de France technical industries. It amounts to 14 million euros and since it started, has helped over 500 projects for a total of 120 million euros.

Conditions of allocation

The allocation of the regional grant is dependent upon:

 

-         Strict compliance with the technical admissibility criteria

-         A favorable response from the selection committee

-         A favorable vote from the Permanent Commission of the Ile de France Regional Council

 

The following are admissible:

 

-         Film and audiovisual works of fiction of 60 minutes minimum for single programs and 26 minutes minimum per episode for a series

-         Creative documentaries, for cinema or television, equal to or over 60 minutes

-         Film and audiovisual animation works of 60 minutes minimum for single programs and 5 minutes minimum per episode for a series

Adminissibility criteria

  • Length of shoot and location: the project must spend a minimum of 50% of the shoot with a minimum of 20 days in Ile-de-France

  • Technical services: the project must complete at least two types of technical services in Ile-de-France among the following four:

 

-         Locations and costumes

-         Technical resources

-         Editing and sound

-         Laboratories and postproduction

 

A service is counted when 80% of the expenditure incurred is in Ile-de-France.

 

  • Labor: the project must comply with labor law and the sector’s collective agreem
  • ents when these agreements are extended. The producer must be in a position to present the technicians’ temporary employment contracts.
  • Training: the producer must commit to recruiting at least 3 interns, at least 2 of which are in positions other than in the production department. For audiovisual projects, the intern must be recruited as part of the collective agreement; for cinema projects, the intern must be remunerated and monitored by an internship manager.
  • Candidate for a regional grant: the project must be presented by the film’s associate producer.

Nature and amount of regional grants

-         Audiovisual works of fiction: maximum grant for a single program = €150,000;

          for a series = €400,000

-         Film and audiovisual fiction or animation works: maximum grant of €560,000

-         Audiovisual animation works: maximum grant of €400,000

-         Creative documentary works: maximum grant of €90,000
